The hardships in life can serve as weights to lift our spirits. All of us face physical, mental, and emotional pain over the course of our daily lives.

Mental pain manifest as worries, regrets, and confusion. Emotional pain comes as variations of fear, sorrow, or anger.

Pain is an awakener!

Pain gives us feedback about something that needs our attention concerning our physical habits and our daily thought process. Daily life can be a difficult school. From the first shock of birth we are introduced to pain and pleasure. Robert Louis Stevenson said, “Life is not always a matter of good cards, but sometimes playing a poor hand well!” We must use pain and adversity as an ally and guide to give us strength, wisdom and understanding. God uses pain to train us, to prepare us for great work and make us profound teachers for our children and all of mankind!

Sometimes we turn to God when our foundations are shaking, only to find out it is God who is shanking them! The secret of success is learning how to use pain and pleasure… Instead of pain and pleasure using you! If you are able to do that, you will be able to '' navigate'' your life much better through your personal storms.

To a large degree it's not actual pain that drives us, but our fear that something will lead to pain. And it's not pleasure that drives us, but our ‘belief’ that somehow taking a certain action will lead to pleasure; we are not driven by reality, but by our ''perception'' of reality.

It is not the circumstances or events that shape our lives but our perceptions and beliefs as to what those circumstances and events ‘mean’. The most important lesson we learn in life is what creates pleasure and what creates pain in our life—these lessons are different for each of us—and therefore so are our behaviors.

Through meditation, self analysis, discipline and introspection we can cultivate the detachment needed to go beyond our ‘personal’ pleasure and pain. Everyone must find there purpose and ‘plan’ beyond pleasure and pain. And remember... if you don't have a plan for your life, the powers that be will! SOUL TO SOUL!
